Every Day An Adventure

Because cool things don't happen to you unless you make them happen

7 May 1977
Hi, I'm Deanna.

I'm back in the US again after living in Tokyo for almost 4 years. I'm living in the Bay Area these days, after waffling between here and Seattle. I like planes and trains and don't like automobiles. I also like baseball and went to 100 games a year in Japan, but the US version of it depresses me, so I've kind of fallen out of the loop. I also like puzzle events. I work at Google. It's pretty awesome.

That's my life in a nutshell. I write too much on here, but that's okay, I guess. If I know you in real life and I've added you as a friend, I understand if you don't want to read all the crap I write and don't also add me... I still want to read about you, though! If I don't know you in real life and I've added you... same!

If you add me, and want me to add you back, you should probably leave a comment explaining why, as I often don't notice this stuff for weeks or months.

I go through large periods of being either all friends-only or of being all open. I write in here pretty much every day, so if you don't see entries, that means I'm on a friends-only kick, probably due to not wanting my mom to read my journal. I tried to keep a lot of my Japan journalling open, though always locked school or work entries, and I'm continuing with that trend in the US. If you want to read my adventures of being an English teacher, you'll have to get on my friends list, or wait for me to write a book about it.

If you need to get in touch with me and you are on my friends list, my contact info is here.

In my spare time, I pretend to be a baseball writer/photographer/historian. I used to write about baseball on a separate blog called Marinerds (apparently syndicated here at marinerd_feed). I'm a huge Nippon Ham Fighters fan, and I like some other teams too, and I also follow Japanese college baseball a little too much for my own good.

I have a gazillion userpics but no default defined.

I managed to visit 46 out of 47 prefectures in Japan. Everything except Okinawa. I claim it doesn't count because you can't take a train there.
